Chutes and Ladders Tutorial

Needed

Two to four players; Chutes and Ladders board game

Setup

The board is laid out, the spinner is placed to the side of the board, and each player's playing piece is setup by the number 1 starting square. Each player will spin the spinner, the player that spins the highest number will be the first to spin in the game.

Objective

The object of the game is to be the first player to travel from the number 1 square to the number 100 square. Players will take turns spinning the spinner and moving their game piece the number of spaces the spinner landed on.

Game Play

The first player will spin the spinner. The player will then move the amount of squares equal to the number spun.

If a player finishes their turn in a square that is the bottom of a ladder, the player will move their piece to the square with the top of that ladder. If a player finishes their turn in a square that is the top of a chute, the player will move their piece to the square with the bottom of that chute.

Play moves clockwise left to the next player to spin the spinner.

Winning

The first player to reach the number 100 square wins the game. A player must land on the 100 square by an exact spin of the spinner, or by taking the ladder from square 80.

Rules

Players will only move from bottom to top of a ladder, and only top to bottom of a chute.

No action is taken when a player lands in a square with part of a ladder or chute in it.
